Suns vs. Spurs, Game 1, April 19

Nothing like the NBA Playoffs. People who prefer the NCAAs don't know basketball. And people who say the pros don't play defense know even less.

The fact is that the good offenses are so efficient, and the stars so skilled offensively, that they're impossible to defend.

How do you guard Steve Nash, for example? He's a great shooter, one of the two or three best passers in history, he runs off about a thousand picks a game and he pretty much always makes the right decision.

How do you guard Tim Duncan? The Suns got Shaq for defense, mostly, and he holds Duncan to 40 in the playoff opener.

And as far as drama goes, the NBA Playoffs have all the nailbiting tension of the NCAA Tournament -- repeated six or seven times in a row! The antagonisms and the gamesmanship build throughout a series, until the 7th game, if it comes about, is almost unbearably intense.
